Monte was neutered today and had his left canine pulled (it was a dead tooth) Dr. Diaz at West Alabama said his jaw was kind of loose upon the pulling of the tooth so she put some wire in there and it will stay for a short period of time. The wire will impact his eating so he will be on soft food for that period of time. He will stay overnight tonight at the clinic and is foster mom will pick him up at noon tomorrow. Monte is heavy heartworm positive. The vet thinks he could start his first heartworm treatment in about 10 days if all goes well.
Monte is being fostered by GBGRR volunteer Shari P. who truly is Monte's guardian angel!

When Mozart isn't mentoring a foster sibling, he's catching up on his reading. He's the lucky dog of GBGRR foster mom Debbie P. whose family has helped foster numerous GBGRR dogs. You may have seen this picture on the GBGRR bookmarks distributed during the David Rosenfelt book signing back in August. There simply was not a better photo to be found!
